meteors
did you ever think about how we’re all just these little powered shells of energy existing in little spaces of time? we look out at all of this from inside our shells like there’s a great big world out there, but really, we just get to ricochet off the energy around us for a short while. i used to look for meaning, but now i just think about impact— i can have a positive impact or a negative impact. that’s the only lasting legacy— the energy we touch touches other energy, and it all gets carried forward. we choose how we impart energy in our actions. i think about the van gogh brothers as a little meteor shower where our collective energy spills out into the world.
meteorological spring is at our doorstep and with it, the energy that comes with the calendar this time of year. the van gogh brothers’ lifetime residency continues at Vincent’s Worcester on march 8 and we return to the BURREN SOMERVILLE on april 4. get your tickets HERE.
our 17th album is out and we are selling physical media at shows. aptly titled, “The van Gogh Brothers,” the album includes our live band, Paul, Clayton, Andy, and me, with local heroes and special guest guitarists Stu Kimball and Cliff Goodwin, as well as Mark Zamcheck on Hammond organ, Kerri Powers on vocals, RAL rapping “Sinner Girl,” and the legendary David Friedman (Tim Buckley’s 1969 masterpiece, “Happy Sad”) on vibes. the CD includes 15 songs and the vinyl 14. vinyl should be available at the BURREN. CD’s are available NOW. we haven’t decided whether to stream this album or not.
i’m taking my little shell back to malibu in march, which will be my first visit since the devastating fires in january. i hope to see lots of friends and associates for what will be a short visit this time. the infrastructure on the west side of LA is still not back on line, including the PCH, which hasn’t fully reopened. even those not directly in the burn area have been affected by this tragedy. it wil be good to be with my west coast friends for a few days.
keep your energy positive. we can all impact the divisiveness running through our world today with small acts of kindness, encouragement to those in need, and creative action, however you manifest it.
hope to see you in a meteor shower in these coming weeks.
love,
jc
